The California Department of Education provides the CalSCHLS system and public data dashboards with high quality data to support efforts of student academic performance, social-emotional, behavioral, and physical health of all youth. The link takes you directly to the Secondary Student dashboard containing the most recent state and district California Healthy Kids Survey results for secondary schools. Gay Lesbian and Straight Education Network’s (GLSEN) 2017 National School Climate Survey

  • 70% of LGBTQ pupils nationwide reported being called names or threatened based on their sexual orientation

  • 1 in 4 LGBTQ pupils reported physical harassment based on their gender expression 48% reported cyberbullying
  • 35% of LGBTQ pupils report missing school because they felt unsafe or uncomfortable

  • 10% missing four or more full days in the month immediately preceding the survey

  • Harassment goes unreported
